Home Affairs spokesman Siyo Qoza said the government entity has been battling with a backlog of 247 500 ID applications that has been accumulating since November 2023 following an IT service provider changeover.
He said the changeover created bottlenecks in the production value chain, from the applications office, application authentication, print, to the final issuing of IDs. Continue here.
